Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

I am yoga master in bangalore. One thing I am surprising that more than 5 to 6 times the crude rate in the world market came down but what about train fairs is it came down, no then what does it means. exactly 50% or more crude rate come down it means crores or rupee's saving is there with the dept. Why the dept, is not reducing th train fairs where the profit is going any office bearers r there to sit with me & discuss the same. Then what is difference between old and new govt both r same

Satabdi ki speed se sabhi train ko chalana chahiye. Coach ko morden banna chahiye. Puri train main AC lagana chahiye Isse AC Sasta hoga Aur sab ko labh milega.

Respected sir, Please take major steps to control corruption in purchase department in SSB loco shed. Item of Re. 1 is being purchased at Rs. 10 by officers. They demand huge commissions from traders. That is why only 2-3 traders are supplying material at much higher rates. Please conduct inquiry for last 2-3 years of purchase and shocking results will come.. Because without controlling all this we can't run safe and profitable railways

Accidents can be avoided at Unmanned Level crossing by following guidelines. a) Try to install automatic danger light with loud sound alarm at the crossings 5 mins before the train reaches Level crossing gate. b) The railways may think to install automatic gate closing & opening arrangement.

accidents in unmanned level crossing an challenging issues for railways can be managed by creating awareness of the public, conducting mandatory class for the licensed heavy and light vechicle drivers at respective rto, and awarding the accident free licenced drivers including simple appreciation of error free driving once in 10 years / 5 years by encouraging them for a safe driving

Indian Railways should immediately embark on correcting following people-related issues: Meeting/ maintaining time schedule; Cleanliness of all stations/ de-congesting entrance foyers/ platforms from squatters; Clean/ spic-span rolling stocks. The trunk rail corridors (Howrah-Delhi, Mumbai-Delhi, Chennai-Howrah) were aligned by British in 1845-75. These need to be re-visited for efficient and faster traffic movement.

Railway crossing is not possible at every road crossing looking at the vast network of railway spread across India. But atleat we could have alarms like a red light or siren which automatically starts when the train is atleat 2 km away from the crossing. I guess so India has a technology to sent an alarm 2km further of train engine without using manpower. Or if we don't have such technology atleat India is in a stage to work on such not the state of art technology.
