The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Generally Mining sector workers are localised, they are unskilled and does have little care and knowledge of safety. Mining apprentice shall be taken up in regularised manner for better utilization of mineral resources and skills development in mining sector. Any Pvt. Body getting license of Mining must first show trained people, either there shall be some mining apprentice program for 1 month, or Mining certificates can be attached with ITIs, where people adept the mining skills of open mining.

Tackling Drug Menace: 1. Political Will - Most of the drug trafikking is blessed by state political leadership. unsubstantiated, but classic eg. is Punjab. 2. Incentivize intel leading to arrest or drugs (clamp down supply). Make example out of people involved in drug selling, Harsh punishment 3. Special Ops team with sweeping powers & direct accountability to center (Not States, they have vested interest) 4. Creating massive public awareness (Schools / Colleges / print Media / TV ads)
