Belagavi is the oldest city in Karnataka with a rich history and culture. It is the 4th largest city in the state and the fastest growing urban center. Belagavi is also a business hub and education center of Karnataka. The city has been shortlisted by Ministry of Urban Development for development as one of the 100 smart cities in India.

Belagavi City Corporation is preparing the Smart City Proposal with an intent to plan and provide smart solutions to urban infrastructure issues of the city and welcomes the citizens of Belagavi to post their views, opinions, thoughts and plans on smart solutions for their infrastructure needs related to water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, storm water drainage, housing, amenities related to recreational activities, sports facilities, energy efficiency, non-motorized transport, safety, electrification, open space development and management, healthcare, education, public transport, key infrastructure such as pedestrian walkways, cycle paths, roads, underpasses, over-bridges, services such as e-governance tools etc. Inputs from citizens is crucial for framing a vision for tomorrow’s Belagavi and to get shortlisted as one among the top 20 cities in the first year, in the Smart City Challenge.

Come, let’s together make Belagavi a thriving and vibrant smart city.

According to me "smart city is clean city". In smart city should be use modern technology in proper way and should know about how to develop the social and economic fields. The concept behind developing the smart cities is to create highly advanced urban regions is terms of overall infrastructure, sustainable real estate,and market viability. in this idea of smart city i think we should first encourage and convince the people about the smart city idea, motive them to be a part of this program and work voluntarily, than only it will get success because we can't do anything forcibly. make them aware of cleanliness like using toilets and keeping environment clean and mainly teach them to use technologies. include graduates and post graduate students given them some responsibilities. sujata kadapure, lingaraj college belgaum.
