The girl child today faces inequality and gender based discriminations even before birth. The nation cannot move forward unless women are given opportunity to realize their full potential and contribute to nation building.

Given this context, please share your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and feedback on how we can change the discriminatory social construct in order to celebrate the girl child. What should be our communication strategy for improving the situation and reach out to people?

if family has limited source of income, and given a choice to educate a girl and boy, many a times preference is for boys.multiple reasons as we know, prominent ones being- dowry, social custom of moving to other family after marriage, and portrait of girl as weak gender..I would suggest: 1. For dowry check-- make purchase of gold PAN card linked. This will also curb black money people spend. 2. For empowerment of girl child--make the environment secure. Stricter laws for sexual assault

I understand that if you want to save girls and give education to them, government has to take step on ground level.I.e. all the pregnancy should be registered by doctor/herself with simple mechanism and should be tracked till delivery. In case of abortion, need to be strictly follow the procedure by doctor (by intimating the concern department). Govt has to open the such type of department within range of every 10 kms.

But girls parents should take a serious step in this direction otherwise this will continue like this and our new generation will curse us and county will never grow like this where people are still living in 18th century wake up and give your new generation A golden sun shine morning and this will happen when people change their mindset..Get serious about your daughter's education. Encourage her to have a career of her own.Instead of giving dowry give her a great career.

Educate your daughters An astounding number of parents still don't lay enough emphasis on educating their daughters. They believe their daughters will get married eventually, and husbands will support them, so why push them so hard? Poorer sections of society would rather send their daughters out to work and earn some money, to help them save up for her dowry. Those from regular middle and upper class backgrounds do send their daughters to school, but don't emphasise career options.

Dowry is an evil, evil system and all of us, at some level, condone it and even contribute to it..we should STOP this dowry culture, giving and taking dowry is the main cause of this that people dont want girl becos thy fell if thy have girl thy need to collect money for her dowry..why cant we stop this thing first..only when a girl complaint against this thn only our indian law will take the action..but why cant as social people can understand this that a GIRL IS THE ROOT FOR A FAMILY..
