Initially, we need to understand the term 'knowledge'. It is not only the amount of information that lies in our mind. As much is the knowledge so much conscious is soul, so sound is mind and so strong is body.

Purpose of education is to gain or manifest knowledge that is within, already. When we talk of Comprehensive Education, actually we are considering Education of every constituent of the Personality. Broadly, the constituents are Body, Mind and Soul, therefore, acquisition of knowledge by these three is Comprehensive Education of the person.

The New Education Policy: 1. The new education has to be based on a mixture of old Gurukul style education and the new education. Old education of India was the best education system which is still surviving in a few Gurukuls today. Ramdev is doing some work on that. Art of Living is also doing work on education. There are a few Gurukuls still surviving. Modern education is also necessary so that we can understand how the whole world thinks. But that has to be a small part of the whole

Children should be taught Gita, Ramayana & Mahabharata, so that, moral & ethical values could be inculcated in them from the very beginning. Modern society will make physical progress through the advancements in science & technology, but we also need to feed his mind with spiritual education. Deep inside us there reside our own self, which also need to be educated, & where instruments of science cannot go, as man is not merely a body, he has a heart & soul too, & they also need to be educated
