FM broadcasting began on 23 July 1977 in Chennai, then Madras, and was expanded during the 1990s, nearly 50 years after it mushroomed in the US.

एफएम रेडियो चैनल आज एक बहुत ही लोकप्रिय चैनल है और गरीबों के मनोरंजन का मुख्य चैनल है नीलामी के बाद ही इस चैनल की यह विशेषता बनी रहनी चाहिए सरकार को नीलामी में यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि वह इस प्रकार की शर्त अवश्य रखें कि वह गरीब के मनोरंजन का साधन बना रहे और लोकप्रिय चैनल बना रहना चाहिए

Proper inspection to be done to allocate spectrum to FM channels. Auditing to be done so that corruption can be minimalised.
New channels on specific subjects related to public need to be opened like- cookery,health,hygiene,etc.
