Unfortunately every NRI has a horror story associated with his/her visit to the indian consulate/embassy. The personnel appointed at these missions are a face of India. They must be gentle and courteous. Improve it and NRI's will become the best ambassadors of our beloved nation.

NRIs can author or publish children's books, novels, magazines, newspaper articles, etc that directly or indirectly promote the beauty, mystique, food, culture, festivals, palaces, beaches, mountains, wildlife, fashion, and other tourist attractions in India.

self discipline: NRI can learn from their surrounding in foreign, where they are living. they can exhibit due amount of discipline, cleanliness and healthy public behavior. This alone will boost India's image in foreigner's eyes. I have seen my Indian fellows spitting, throwing garbage and breaking all public laws in most beautiful and cleanliest of the places. many othr ppl do this too, but local ppl blame us as forener and notice our behavior. NRI shud practice these learning in India too.

NRIs can be brand INDIA ambassadors in countries they live. They can talk to their friends/colleagues/neighbours what India has to offer as a tourist destination like its heritage, culture, cuisine, nature's beauty, adventure sports, and so on. And all this at a fraction of cost to other tourist places in the world. Indian Railway is the cheapest and best way to explore India. Indian embassies should organise Know India program at least 3-4 times just before holidays to promote tourism.
