Stop encouraging only renewable energy. Subsidize LED lights to all residents and industries in India. Encourage manufacturing of LED lights, but till then give tax incentives to LED light importers to meet immediate needs. Example in my house in US, I used to spend 6000W and now I spend only 500W for all lights. Then only it will work. I am telling based on my 3 decades of experience in all kinds of energy and being a power system scientist.

Govt. Plzzzz use LED lights for Road lights , government Offices' & domestic ..save electricity n save energy...!!

During summer, AC's are started in the morning by the office peons and Temp is set at 16 degree C so that room is cooled faster before the Boss reaches the office.Later on, the Set temp is not increased to a comfortable temp of 25 degree C and AC continues operating at 16 degree C throughout the day. Similar thing happens in the Conference/Meeting rooms. If the Set Temp is maintained at 25 degree C, it saves a huge amount of energy. The peons may not be aware of this, who need to be trained.

If government strictly permits only the construction of new buildings with having sufficient ventilation in such a way to avoid the use of light in day time. Provision of timers for switching on and off of light and fans based on working hours. Fixing targets for consumption with provision of proper monitoring of energy consumption. Strict implementation of energy conservation measures like replacement of 36W tube light fittings with LED lights or 28w fittings and Incandescent lamps with CFL;s.

हर बड़ी इमारत पर रूफ टॉप पालिसी के तहत पावर कनेक्‍शन दिए जाए। इसके अलावा ज्‍यादा से ज्‍यादा एनर्जी एफिशिएंट एप्‍लाइंस का इस्‍तेमाल किया जाए । दिनभर सोलर एनर्जी से बिल्डिंग रौशन हो और बिजली की काफी हद तक बचत होगी। रात में सामान्‍य बि‍जली का इस्‍तेमाल हो। इसके अलावा नई बल्डिंगों को बनाने में बिल्डिंग कोड का ध्‍यान रखा जाए।

How I have implemented energy conservation in my house is as follows. Heat from outer walls are prevented by a simple technique called rat trap bonding, heat from roof is prevented by installing 2 KW off Grid solar panels, 300 LPD solar water heater, parabolic solar cooker, roof garden and painting white, hot air elimination is done by having a 4 X 4 opening on the terrace covered with 4 feet all around with 6 in ventilator, cross ventilation is taken care by strategic position of windows, DC

Awareness campaigns, availability of affordable means of alternative energy like solar penals, incentives to save electricity - adding new subject of envirenment, social responsibility from mid school level and also in college will go a long way to make future generations responsible and aware of ways of doing it and irs benefits in short and long run. Better building material to reduce usage of ACs in summers should be promoted in big way, building designs should also be such and then LEDs etc.
