Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Learning outcomes apart, the NCPCR needs to be strengthened for effective implementation of the RTE Act, which ensures access to schools in the neighbourhood or meeting of requisite infrastructure norms. I think the NCPCR can have meaningful efficacy only if it has more power to execute its decisions and penalize government officers for non-compliance by way of fines and by having that non-compliance included in their reports to be considered for their promotions, as the CIC does.

The children love to learn at their own pace.Recognition and appreciation plays an important role for them to move ahead. So no child should be ignored. The pace may differ and teacher should always motivate.The role is not only of a teacher but a parent plays equally important role in ensuring learning outcomes.Practical work and involvement of children is the most important aspect to ensure learning.

Ensuring the children learn at their appropriate levels is important, there are many children who have a different pace of learning, so classroom teaching to ensure that all the children learn, either with peer learning,or multilevel teaching methods, developing subject corners for eg language, math, science corners could help in improving the learning levels. Teachers to be trained in these methods, identify the slow pace group of learners, progress slowly & gradually to complete learning level

In addition to class room teaching,parents must help the students in reading ,writing , comprehension and completing homework

हम अपनी पुरानी संस्कृति को भूल गए हैं . इसको एजुकेशन के द्वारा दुवारा अपने दश में लागू करना चाहिए क्योकि जिन देशो में शिक्षा अपनी भाषा में हैं वह देश तरक्की कर रहे तो क्या हम अपने देश की शिक्षा को हिंदी में नहीं कर सकते है

सुधारात्मक अनुशासन विद्यार्थियों पर बराबर रहना चाहिये । इसके साथ ही किसी भी पारिवारिक व्यक्ति को गुरुजन बन्धुओं के अनुशासन में दखल नहीं देना चाहिये । अपने पुत्र-पुत्रियों को गुरुजन बन्धुओं के निर्देशन में ही सदा रखना चाहिये ।

"गुरुजन बन्धुओं को चाहिए कि सबसे पहले विद्यार्थियों को शिष्टाचार का व्यावहारिक पहलू मजबूत करें ! ‘सत्यं बद्; धर्मं चर ! (सत्य बोलें और धर्म पर रहें-चलें !)’ अध्ययन का मूलमन्त्र होना चाहिये । इसकी व्यावहारिकता पर सबसे कड़ी दृष्टि होनी चाहिये ।" विद्यार्थियों में सर्वप्रथम शिष्टता एवं सदाचारिता ही कूट-कूट कर भरनी चाहिये । विद्यार्थियों के नैतिक और चारित्रिक विकास से सम्बन्धित विषय-वस्तुयें भी होनी चाहिये । विद्यार्थियों का समुचित विकास किस प्रकार हो, यह पूरी जिम्मेदारी गुरुजन बन्धुओं पर ही होना चा
