Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Teachers need to judge the skills of the students and their interest at basic stages itself and should promote their skills and hep them the best they can. Also Government need to look into this aspect more.

The System needs to understand that opening 1000s of new schools is not gonna help. we need to focus on strengthning and modernizing of Existing schools. We need to focus on imparting practical education to the children at very basic stages itself rather than overloading them with theorotical knowledge. Sports should be made as an integral part of the school curriculam and overall development should be given more importance along with moral value education.

Cultivating our own good culture and habits, at elementary education level is more than educating them about early knowing about science and technology, for that good hearted volunteers (they no need to be teachers) to be identified and supported first by government and public, if we could achieve this by minimum 3 consecutive years, throughout the nation, then implement the same to higher schools. "GOOD HEARTS MAKE HEALTHY NATION"

the need of the hour is to recruit honest and capable teachers who desrves to be there.specially in the gov.schools teachers are employed hugely by giving money.so if we want to save the future of our nation we have to curb out corruption from education system. only honest and capable teachers will construct the students who will have the ability and talent to take the country forward in the future.so urgent reforms needed in that particular field

Content and Language Integrated Learning should be introduced, more emphasis should be given to English Language, if the nation wants its young leaders to flourish. There is a misconception that people with an M.A. in English Literature are also experts in ELT. This must be taken into consideration, that both subjects have their own characteristics. Emphasis on ELT is required. Teachers doing Action Research in t heir classes i n schools must be supported and encouraged by the government.

Both in rural urban schools Early Year Programmes are not well-structured and hence the learners' interest cannot be initiated by teachers. Though in private schools, students have access to ICT, but there should be more activities for reflection. Teachers are also not well-informed always about the continuous changes occurring in every field. So at times the lessons are not pragmatic. Teachers should get the chance to train themselves regularly.

Since,after passing 8 class the change in syallabus is huge so from 8 standard some basic concept of class 9 should be included. Regular quality cheak should be done by educational officer at districts to ensure smooth running of schools.

Following steps can be taken:- 1. Improving teachers quality in rural and small towns. 2. Reducing teachers involvement in other activities like mid day meals.A separate person should be appointed 3. Ensuring proper facilities in rural india like proper infrastructure,sitting arrangement for students and hygiene etc. 4. Motivational schoolarships like a student who will have 100% attendence will be rewarded or schoolarship to bright students.

I think the learning outcome can't be ensured until regulatory framework is designed in a manner that pushes schools to focus on learning outcome. Currently school recognition norms lays large emphasis on meeting input and infrastructural standards and not on learning outcome. Therefore: The section under RTE that deals with recognition norms based on input/infrastructure should be changed to learning outcome. Gujrat RTE rules is the model for this.
