Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Syllabus should be thoroughly revised for each school. We should teach only the that are needed. other than that we should pay more attention to the extracurricular activities. every schools should have different clubs related to different extracurricular activities. In our country extracurricular activities are not given much importance. So we should promote it.

Sir for this I would suggest we should now divide the schools at three levels. Like this: From class 1 to 5-Primary schools; then 6 to 8- Junior High Schools; then 9 to 12- High School. The stream oriented study that is offered from class 11th should be offered from class 9th in the high school. Education till the Junior High school should be made compulsory. Due to the division of schools the children would be able to develop in an environment accustomed to them.
