Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

University research corridor (URC) - Last 10 years government allowed much more institutions than post independence period. Now our goal is to focus quality by having University research corridor.Government can not be 100% owner in this proposal but lot of private and public universities should part of this proposal. so government should come up with guidelines after consulting with regional and central stake holders. for example lets consider PSG+Amrita University+Bharathiyar+Karunya =one URC

Admission process should be online per school. In Pune we see long lines of parents standing for days and days for admission of their child in school. If the process goes online, it will help all people and give everyone a fair chance.

India is the land of great people like Swami Vivekananda but sadly few people know about his teachings.A compilation of some of his inspiring teachings should be introduced from class 6-12 with compulsory 10 marks in board exams of 10 and 12.It will infuse a sense of Ethics and Social Resposibility towards upliftment of society in them right from childhood.Self Interested Successful people are of little use towards nation building.Good values have to be inculcated right from childhood.

Teaching should be made interesting by introducing audio visual methods in schools where possible.Teachers should be trained in certain principles, techniques and strategies of Psychology which will help them to guide childrens to realise and achieve their potentials. Trained teachers can guide parents to maintain a family environment in which children can blossom. Effective teachers should be rewarded so that it inspires them and others to implement innovative and effective teaching techniques.

Lot of people find no relation to education and economic activity hence high drop our rate. The subjects should be taught till class eight should be. Language, simplified maths with more focus on accountancy. first aid. Everyday science how things works. tax system and awareness of judicial system. a student passed till 10+2 who is not ware of all these is practically useless.
