Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Ensuring learning outcomes in elementary education is possible when there will be a balanced PTR(30:1).In lower primary schools there are lots of vaccant posts of teacher.untill and unless we make the teaching profession more dignified,we will not be able to attract youth to join in this profession. The primary eduction is the building block of formal education.the focuss should be mainly on primary education.

Govt should out of primary education, below Grade 8 and leave it to private sector(private schools).Govt can not efficiently manage primary education-schools-teachers due to logistics etc.Instead Govt must formulate elaborate guide lines including strong wider say of parents in management and evaluation of teachers-school combine.Govt should focus on devising education policies, curriculum, new E-teaching tools,standards.School-teacher-teaching management be handed over to private sector

Modiji Mid- Day Meal to children should be supplied by governmental agencies with quality food products. It is checked regularly by concerned authorities. A committee should be formed in all schools with at least two parents and ensure that quality food is receiving to all eligible children. Response from the school committee was collected monthly by the authorities and correct complaints if any.Scholarships were provided for eligible ones without considering APL or BPL.

There are a minimum of 500- 1000 students are studying in each school with 1 or 2 working / dirty toilets and 40 - 45 minutes interval for lunch. Imagine the health condition of the students after their studies. Please provide ONE CLEAN / WORKING TOILET for at least 100 students.
