Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

teacher should not be given extra work.the only responsibility given to the teacher is the development of the child.Mid day meal policy should be implemented with the help of NGO.

No detention policy is applicable only in those systems where teacher -student ratio is less in number.So the teachers have time and facility to upgrade the child in a limited span of time.So to ensure learning outcomes in elementry education i personally feel that no examination system should be followed upto class II.Every child must be promoted to the next class after getting required knowledge of the perticular class.

I am not in favour of examination upto class II.Teacher must be given freedom to promote the child in next class on the basis of CCE.Whenever he feels that the child learn all the things required for class I,he will promote the child.The child will be ready to learn the new ideas of the next class happpily as he is ready to learn with the basic knowledge of class I.Without this concept no detention policy is harmful for our country where student-Teacher ratio is very high due to singal teacher s
