Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Another point is the foreign affiliation being highlighted by these private schools such as british council, certain foreign institutions and charging of higher fees on these basis. what are creditibilities of these foreign institutions. can we not have any such recognition institutes in our country.

but true need of the hour to get the vision and understanding of our roots. To my understanding once you strengthen up your roots, you may advance to any height with the passage of time.

another aspect which comes to my knowledge is inter exchange programs with foreign schools. A country with diversification with a number of languages requires inter exchange programs from abroad? if we are so keen for the development of our children we must have those inter exchange programs for states within our country. Let the children first have the flavour of our roots then to move outside. I do understand in today's world of globalisation, it may be a requirement

similarly the schools introduce the subject called ABACUS but the irony is that it is being introduced for 1 year and that too in class 2nd. As per my knowledge this is way to learn maths but requires 3 years to 5 years of working. Why is this being done not understandable to me. We are spoiling the minds of little ones for gaining nothing. and new concepts needs to be introduced where is our vedic maths. we ae moving away from our roots and why it is as such perhaps for want of money...........

at the age of 7 to 8 years when a child is in his/her prime age of learning, he is being burdened to learn third language apart from hindi and english as two languages. what kind of policy is being followed by these schools i am not able to understand. Apart from that the child when coming to sixth class is being denied the same language to carry on after taking a proper examination. In nut shell you waste three years of crucial age for gaining nothing and overburdening the child.

In today education i somewhere feel learning has lost. The phenomenon of 'Character building' has got converted to the concept ' personality development'. however highlighting certain points observed during the last few years In many schools in Delhi the third language and that too a foreign language like French and german are being introduced from class 2 and 3 when the age of the child is just around 7 to 8 years.

Elementary education means learning the elementary environment in the very conducive format. the first & foremost requirement of elementary learning is the language which forms the foundation of one's knowledge & cognition. This language has to be his/her natural language (Matrubhasha). Language is the most essential aspect of learning & a vehicle of Sanskriti and thus every Bharatiya must be faithful towards it. As a second Language, every child must learn Sanskrit before other subjects.
