Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.

Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

The last date for sharing inputs on Draft Indian National Defense University Bill, 2015 is 21st August, 2016.

This is a promising venture by the Indian government. As this university is under the defense ministry, which is notoriously famous in defense acquisitions (rafale deal, PAK-FA deal, 30+ years for HAL Tejas, even the replacement of insas rifle). Even after 100% FDI in defence, not even 10% share is given to the Indian private companies in defense manufacturing under make in India program. So only the future holds the true success of this institution, that is improving our defense.

Dear PM sir, I wanted to tell you about where from you can get more icome tax to make my country developed. I have seen there are so may General store like Grousry shops who earn more than 20-25 Lac monthly basis and they don't provide bill to customers it means gov doesn't have visibility of thier income, so my idea is government must provide a billing machine to them and all sell and purchase must be tracked down with help of this machine. It could get black money controlled. Thax for looking

As a rule of thumb, every student who is studying on Govt's expense (all university, IIT) should serve Army in some capacity. Autonomy of universities must come with this caveat that the students can't be there forever to enjoy govt subsidized food & accommodation. Every ministry should be able to include concerned topics for research. Every research topic should have an objective assessment before assigning to scholars. Post completion, evaluation should be independent of the mentor's influence

This University should train internal and external defense mechanisms, both reactive and preventive. Also, Phd research should not be on useless African wars or some other Kanhaiya Kumar style phd. Research should happen on Crisis Management , Emergency Response Management, Disaster Management, Damage Control and Assessment. Need is also to be able to keep continuous & multiple eyes on known enemies. Therefore focus on - integration of key databases of State and Central Government agencies.

It should be autonomous it should not have any gov control and like iit and other and should have an R&D center in it we can also promote IIT for developing new weapons and and new defense system for the defense forces and most importantly there should not be any reservations quota the selection of the students should be completely on merit

Hon. pm modi ji don't waste your time to debate for this bill on this portal. China also have own defense university and we almost 12 years behind in all sector rather than china inclouding defence university and space programme Thank you

Hope it will not turn out be a degree producing factory ,100 % palcement must be ensured , otherwise course should be limited to the defence personnel, others who are already having jobs #IndianNationalDefenceUniversityBill2015, #INDU, #IndianNationalDefenceUniversity, #MoD, #MyGov

Students from school level who are engaged in NCC activities,Civil defence ,NSS,Scouts and Guides should be enable to participate for getting certificates from proposed universities which would enable a cohesive platform for growth.
