Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.

Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

The last date for sharing inputs on Draft Indian National Defense University Bill, 2015 is 21st August, 2016.

Immidiatly when orderd..... So we need to include them in such universities and other modernisation plans so as to make a parallel upgradation and capacity building.... Nation will witness patriotism , selfless service and moreover an extremely cooperative working methodology with honesty at its peak...... Thank u sir

Sizable no of forces like paramilitary/CAPF to allow them to grow independently to support internal security. These forces are almost same in no with defence forces and most efficient and cost effective to gov. But several lobies like IPS and IAS for their persnl groth denied to grow them. Future of the nation seems to b very voletile. To counter india needs a robust and powerful paramilitaries. .... just think a bit on this issue... These forces never demanded financial parity but serves

Respected modi ji.... Today the kind of security threat nation is facing is more from internal and less from external. Be it naxalism militency in north east, separatist, law and order, cyber crimes and other organized crimes. Even externl forces are supporting financialy, fundamently and ideologically to our enemies already existing within our boundry. It's sounds good to have some colleges and a new autonomous defence university will establish in our country. It will also helpful for youth who want to make their carrier in defense after that the " nation security" will be in more secure hands.This initiative of government is historical and I want to say thanks to our government organization which will provide this type of unique distance learning facility in defence field.

Good idea to open a new university specially for defence related studies. But I do not understand why marine related studies like construction of port , marine architecture and Nautical Science etc. has not been included .We have 7,500 kilometre coastline , we must have new ports to save Indian companies hundreds of millions of dollars in transport costs, as well as ease concerns over the growing strategic clout in South Asia of rival China.

It is wonderful that we are moving towards a National Def University. However from the previous experience the fear is that the babus from MOD will try to sabotage and retain control which will defeat the very purpose of having such an institution. I feel the the present govt has an opportunity of breaking the stranglehold of the Babus on development of def philosophy. Funding and autonomy should be ensured. Substantial presence of serving and retired soldiers should be there.

government ki koi bhi vacancy nikalti hai to lakho ,croro log apply karte hai jisse pata chalta hai ki apne desh me kitna berojgari hai aur yehi haal private job me bhi hai as per experience jita expectation hota hai utna nhi milta hai

sir , hum yehi suggest karenge ki education ka lable equal ho qki aaj praivate schools & college apani manmani se paise mangte hai, aaj kal job ka bahut comptition hai job jaldi milti nhi jo log CBSC & ICSE se padhte hai unko job jaldi mil jata hai aur uski padhai itni costly hai ki parwadta nhi kon nhi chahat ki o achha job kare aur achhi padhai kake bada aadmi bane but ye sab mumkin hoga jab education equal hoga aur sab aware honge is equality se tab jake yuva aage badhega.

I think this is long overdue along with establishment of INDU under MoD a clear vision should be established to Center for Strategic Studies and Foreign Relations under GoI to layout strategies for growing Indian role in Geopolitical platform.#INDU

A very good idea and a long pending. We should have a university dedicated to the defense of our country in order to be a superpower in the sub-continent. But the defense project should also be given to top premier institutions also with one coordinating agency much like in thew lines of America's DARPA and our defense tri-service should have their own research wing to understand their own requirement in order to be future ready.
