Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.

Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

The last date for sharing inputs on Draft Indian National Defense University Bill, 2015 is 21st August, 2016.

It is an Excellent idea. National Integration Knowledge is mustin every citizen. The INDU designed a curriculum and to implement in all Primary Education level students.

Establising National Defence Unniversity is a welcome step by the Government. However, we should focus that proper infrastructure and world class teachers are appointed in this Universiity as this University will cater to the needs of higher studies in the field of internal security. Reserch work of internal security and intelligence sharing is also to be focusseed upon so as to meet the challenges and menaces due to upsurge in terroist activities and innovative modus operandi by the terrorists.

Respected Sir, A real good idea which needs to start functioning at the earliest. There is very less awareness about importance of internal & external defence. People don't know difference between Police, Military & Para-military. I.N.D.U. will definitely bring laurels. Wish the team a Grand Success. Regards

It's a great oppurtunity for all indian to have this type of platform because so many poor students are there who cant go for higher study if they want to take admission in defence college.So that they can showcase their tallent to get this type of upcoming defence university .it's a pride for India and an superb decission been taken by India.In this university you can get to learn each and eveey thing about the defence activities.so we are feeling so proud to make this type of university.

It is an excellent decision. Recently we have noticed many students from sainik schools are not opting for NDA. Like joining B tech course or even joining merchant marine. Now these students can study here if they are willing to join military or DRDO.

The best thing that can be done to this university is to give recognition like colleges degrees have University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition & gainfully employing the students. Further I would like to add that what people learn must be useful to them in the course of their life time. This ought to be the mantra for every university in India & the world. #IndianNationalDefenceUniversityBill2015

Please insert the following or variations thereof into the bill: 1. All students and faculty will be citizens of the Rrepublic of India with the exception of those individuals who will have security and appropriate clearances from appropriate ministries. 2. Persons with a criminal record or record of causing harm to the Republic of India will not be eligible to be appointed either as student or faculty at the University 3. All faculty will have to obtain clearance from the defence ministry.

The proposal to establish Indian National University is an outstanding national decision. The University will be evolved in the not too distant future as a renowned center of post graduate studies for the aspiring young-men and women from all friendly nations. Following points submitted for consideration: 1. Objects of University. Please change para 8(ii) as "To promote avenues for higher education for Defence Personnel through specifically designed full time courses of various duration.
