Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.

Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

The last date for sharing inputs on Draft Indian National Defense University Bill, 2015 is 21st August, 2016.

I have suggestion to make, since we are the largest importers in defense, Government should announce some special scheme under development of defense system where common man can donate or invest into. To make people more interested at least donation could be tax free.

The urgent need for now is, at least 6 months army training should be compulsory for college going youngsters. This should include various common weapons and guns handling with tough physical fitness course. This will prepare our youths to face terrorist and other anti national powers inside our country. Also the will be reserve force in case of emergency at any level. This course will help youths to discipline there future life and acts.

it is a very right time that a separate University will have a start to our Ministry to protect our Nation technically with all educated persons studied exclusively, in the time of today where even for a cook who cooks in a hotel needs to study Hotel Management where a 10 failed student will join as a cook in a hotel in those days now he has to study Degree in Hotel Management to join as a cook in a hotel, where our Jawans has to protect our country and to save our country we need this. Recruitment system in DRDO is required to be changed.All the recruitment to be conducted by Upsc and SSC instead DRDO itself for better transparency.

As there is a premier institute named as IMA for defence training but one institute can not fulfilled the requirement so one defence university is required so that the young generation will be motivated to serve in defence.Besides to make strong defence strategy more defence institute are required in this country.

#INDU Bill# i doubt the idea of establishing IND University under INDU Bill. reasons i reckon: 1. DEFENSE STUDY SHOULD BE UNDER CLOSED boundaries like in DRDO etc. considering its material and moral knowledge NOT to be in reach with ANTI-SOCIAL elements 2. Proposal of making this subject in distance/open education is also a blunder in my opinion 3. No any specific incorporation of CYBER SECURITY sector found in the inception terms of this BILL AND SO i request big heads to ponder?

This university should be set up for only defence education but also it should have system and process real time technology used across world and output camout should be through this think tank should be used for production with its linked factory for revenue generation for country and employment using skilled India Manpower.

A University of National Importance is good and it is there all round the world. But we should not put down for that our National Defence Academy is one of the best of that kind and we should not dissolve it or under mine it with our new initiative and should be given autonomous status under the new university.
