India has an estimated 20.9 lakh people living with HIV. However, nearly 30 -35 percent of these do not know there HIV status. After a person gets infected with HIV, there is a long asymptomatic period of 5-8 years when infected person may not have any symptoms till his immunity goes down significantly and he start getting different opportunistic infection like TB, diarrhoea, fungal infection etc. Hence most of the HIV infected persons present to health system in late stage when immunity is very low and their response to treatment may not be optimal. Also during this long asymptomatic period of 5-8 years, though they are infected but may not be aware of HIV status and are capable of spreading the infection their spouse or others if they continue to indulge unprotected sex.

Early detection of PLHIV is beneficial for patient himself as he can receive timely appropriate treatment including ART as well as for the community to stop further transmission of HIV.

We invite suggestion from community/ NGO/ CBO/ Civil society and public at large their views/ ideas on How to facilitate early detection of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and put them on ART as soon as possible.

Ordering ART medicines online - anonymous My friends have to get the ARTs from a medicine store that is not in the area where they are known. And usual reaction from the pharmacist - confirmed detection?, makes them uncomfortable. Online ordering from a secure gov. website will ensure anonymity and also that the original ART are being delivered at a fair price.

Doctors at grass root levels should be trained to perform the test as well as proper kits should be made available to them. Next, step should be the ease with which a person can go and get tested. Ideally, it should be walk-in for the test. Last step has to be informing people about benefits of early detection and thus importance of getting tested if they had unprotected sex thrugh media and other means. Nobody wants HIV and lot life can be saved with a well planned strategy and implementation.

People are afraid of HIV if one.acquire such he will be unaware of it until it is suspected and detected. A law should be passed strictly through MCI and.DCI that if such patient is detected then it should be brought to the notice of local health bodies under DHO and this data should be highly confedential so by this not only doctors dentist but also all diagnostic labs private and government should be reporting. By this one can start ART and councel them for better healthy future of society

Sir, First early detection itself will lead us to successful implementation of treatment for the PLHIV. for this the screening programmes should be very strict and fool proof. once they are found to be positive that should be confirmed with the next set of investigations then the proper counselling for them will help to start the inital treatment. Next is the awareness about the success of the treatment to the PLHIV that will make them confident to undergo the treatmet.then it can be easily done
