Indian handlooms as brand can be promoted by profit sharing by traders to ensure fair price of product to be given to handloom workers. a formula can be formed by Gov.by which handloom worker should get 50 % of final sale price(as per receipt)challan/ of product and Gov ensure strict implementation of policy by way of appointing regulator for same.

Corrupted officers in this related industry should be monitored and removed. It was reported that in TN, when the cooptex came under the reputed IAS officer, he was able to shift the business from crores of loss to crores of profit making one. So the officers also part of the reason for low sales in Indian handlooms related products/departments I think.

People will buy handloom products only if they are assured of quality and fair pricing. This can be done by making them a part of organized retail. Our IITs and other engineering colleges that teach textile engineering can be given improving durability as thesis topic. Gandhi ashrams should be more aggressive and should be given more modern look. Khadi should not remain a dress of Netas who have made public identify this fabric with corruption and crime.

Is this a difficult idea to achieve ? If I look around me , handlooms are available in all the major cities . However, nobody buys beyond the token saree or kurta. Why ? People have moved on in their tastes and habits. Handlooms are simple not useful anymore. IF at all one has to revive handlooms , they have to be redesigned for modern usage and yes, distributed and sold through current market channels.
