India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

It is a curse for Indian farmer that the middlemen (Dalal) are exploiting them. Govt.should make proper arrengment that farmers may sell their product directly to consumer. In some countries I have seen the co-opretive market where farmers sell their product directly. Both side are being benifited.At cheaper cost fresh product for consumer and better price for farmers.

I submitted TEN interactions on non implementation of Courts/GOI Orders while restoring my 1/3rd pension from 02-10-2004 and Non settlement of Public Grievance DPG/C/2012/80001 of 01 Jan 12 in spite of clear Court and DOPPW Orders. Even on submitting grievance to PMO I failed to get justice and the Officials are not bothered to render me justice and mum. Does it mean that the strongest PMO also unable to render justice and lower Govt Officials are supreme and can act as they like.

Increase in cold storage is not the correct answer as our country is power deficit one rather prudent agri policy and collective large scale farming wrt the seasonal variations and demands should be able to bring loses at present nabard and nhb subsidised cold storages units are storing imported apples and commercial ice creams Rather value addition of produce into semi consumables thru collective enterprises should be encouraged a study of all subsudised cokd storages must be done

By increasing the AC storage facilities in every districts as 50% of global food production will get wasted because of this, 50% of global population are not getting food. World has enough food production to fulfill the hunger of world population. If some how are can improve the supply chain facilities we can solve this problem effectively.

Dear Sir, as per the policy or the rule passed, all the tole naka in mumbai is suppose to be stopped, however the local public are been charged tols on all the toll naka, and we are facing a big issue with them, even police and military officials are supporting the tolls in mumbai. hope to see some action for the same

We can reduce these losses by feeding that to cows,bulls and other pet animals and the waste obtained from those animals can be used as fertilizers for plants.

उपरोक्त सन्दर्भ में सबसे आवश्यक पहलू सड़क एवं परिवहन व्यवस्था का सूचारु रुप में उपस्थित होना है। जिससे की समस्त सामग्री समय से गन्तव्य स्थान तक पहुंच सके तथा वहां से बेकार सामान वापस लाकर उसे बायो खेती हेतु उपयोगी बनाया जा सके।

Better storage is the only option with which we can reduce such an anomaly.So Govt have to help out the agricultural and scientific community to do better researches and practices.
