India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

If inflation rates comes down then farmers will get affect. Govt has to take some action to benefit farmers and eliminate trade brokers gain. Govt can introduce a rule which ensure farmers profit. If we fail to ensure farmers growth then we have to import everything from abroad..

Develop micro , mini and small first stage processing equipments and technologies and give them to farmers and wholesalers, who can treat the damaged ones immediately and sell them to regular food processing units to make jams and juices or to hotels, who have use for crushed preserved pulps

Circle in the middle is the indication of Quality Village with the support of three Angle. Fund flow from three angle will help in building up a strong and Quality Village. PMNRUP Fund should flow Direct to District from Centre and to Panchayati Raj/Village Authority from district. With this system we can build.

There should be food processing centres to produce quality tinned vegetables, juices, jams, squashes etc. Especially in A.P. tomato farmers throw away harvested tomatoes when the prices are very low, they leave tomatoes unplucked in farms because they are unable to pay high labour charges where as they get low price as low as two rupees per k.g.Good quality tomatoes must be collected at the price which profits farmers and should be used to produce puree and sauce which are widely used in cities.

Though Indian farmers are geting better yields, they are not geting proper monetary benefits due to the invlnt of the agents. Their efforts are suppressed by giving low value and the brokers are keeping the market price at the higher level. Introduction the Processing cum Cold storage facilities and a involvement of professionals unlike existing bodies with the infrmtn of demands and the cold supply chain process andthe possibilities of selling directly to the markets by the farmers will prevent

The chain should be short becoz everyone in chain having some storage which leads to losses occur... N by increasing chain sell value increased becoz everyone include his cost and profit.. So market price is so high ... And sometimes they block d storage only to increase the demands n cost by virtue of which losses increases becoz not having good facilities for storage....!!!
