India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

To reduce post harvest losses, cold storages should be built in every part of the country where the farmer's are given free storage space. Railway's should be used more effectively for transportation and specific coaches fpr the same introduced in trains travelling to far flung places.

Hi, In my opinion PSU banks should revisit policy of high rates on used vehicle loans. Certified used car buying should be encouraged so that there is less burden on the streets from new car buyers and also encourages people who hold multiple vehicles to sell off extra possession at reasonable rates. Cars which are under the manufacturer's recommended life becomes better bet for person who is graduating from a two wheeler. Bank should look this as opportunity to increase there loan base.

Make only one rule that all govt from president to class 4 use only govt facilities eg children read in govt school, treatment in govt hospital, travel in public. transport etc

By providing mobile containers which can be transported by road to harvesting centeres and fruits and vegetables kept in controlled conditions.

In Past ERA of NDA local Village Mall came into existance like ITC -Choupal, Shriram -Haryali and other few. Every Big village Panchayat should have these type of Local Harvest Produce and Supply Chain Center. These Cenetre Could be used as to show Technology and Innovatin and Improvement/Development. Farm Related Technology/Tools can be sold/provided to the Farmers and local Animal Husbandry producers.

first 100% local consumption must be assured it will reduce the transportation charges as well as improve people health as the vegetables & fruits grow according to geographical requirement. second good cold storage facilities must be provided to preserve them so that if they are not consumed they can be processed as tomato for ketchup pury sauces fruit jam squash vegetables as mint methi soya can be dried up and sold in off season .the processing industry must be started with new technology .

1. Cold storages of high load capacity must be built in every district headquarter & at places of mass production, cold storage must be built in every producing town. 2. Trains must be run which would contain cold storage containers & they must connect vegetable producing towns to the destinations where vegetables & fruits have to be processed & supplied. 3. Record of storage must be kept online which would ease advance booking of fruits & vegetables for processing. It will reduce wastage also.
