Encourage private player to build food processing units near every big fruits & vegetable market by making their income, tax free. Use more cargo helicopters & cold storage good trains to shift highly perishable fruits & vegetable to nearest processing units by charging them reasonable cargo fees. After processing &/ packaging, use same helicopters to the nearest International airport for export perishable goods on priority basis, with minimum paper work at airport.

IDENTIFY TWO/THREE TOP FRUITS/VEGETABLES IN EACH DISTRICT. ESTABLISH COLD STORAGE AND PROCESSING FOR THESE IDENTIFIED PRODCUTS. PROVIDE 10 CRORES TO THE DC FOR PRICE PROTECTION TO FARMERS AND SELL DURING SHORT AGE TO PROTECT CONSUMERS. CREATE A NET BASED MIS FOR ALL DISTRICTS TO COORDINATE AND MOVE PRODUCTS. ASK AGRI UNIVERSITIES TO FOCUS RESEARCH, DOCUMENT BEST PRACTICES FOR EACH DISTRICT AND EDUCATE FARMERS FOR BETTER PRODUCTIVITY & QUALITY. USE NDDB A LA DHARA FOR MRKTNG & DISTRIBUTION

Cold storage using Solar Power could be looked at as an option. It is a form of energy that is readily available in most of the parts of the country. Also, these days technological advances have enabled us to store solar power in batteries which allows us to utilize the stored energy on cloudy days & during night time. Small solar power generation plants require little maintenance and have a life of almost 25 years, if maintained properly. If such ideas are implemented, losses can be reduced.

Better to government should participate and purchase fruits and vegetables where it become cheap and transport to other place where it becoming costlier to stop price increase and help the farmer too where this become cheap and not getting any good price. On all mandi there should be purchase rate and sell rate update. So,people will know what price they purcahse and what price they are selling so that people know how much they are earning profit. They are not looting public.

Cold storage is the only available answer, as far as I know. But unless retail business comes under organized sector cold storage facilities will not be competitive. Because prices will not be raised by these retailers and they do not generate enough to spend for the cold storage facility. Can we have private public partnership in this sector where the entrepreneur gets help initially?

Sir, This is in continuation of my earlier suggestion of setting up most modern cold storage houses at Rly Stn Premises at high yield, high consumption and high distribution places The Railway wagons with cold storage facilities for transportation -are to be specially designed. Every cold storage wagon should have its own low power engine for self movement from the tracks to yard. They can be attached at the end of the trains for long transits and they can self run within the Station.

Sir, One good way of establishing Supply Chain - is to set up Cold Storage Houses at the Railway Stations of all the produce-rich and consumption-rich and export-capable Places. At railway stations, there are no land, power & transport problems. The ware-houses can be connected well with Interiors by road. Special cold storage wagons can also be introduced and they can be tracked across whole Nation. All Railway Station situated Cold Storage houses can be networked for info-exchange of stock.

Once the quatnities produced are identified across the country food processing industries can be setup near the sources of produce the value added goods. Formers dont have the information on howmany acres of the crop layed by the other formers. A consolidated website where every former can register himself and details of his crop by way of sms, web will help the nation to get a big picture of what is produced. there are a no of software offering available for this whcih can be used to manage

We dont have a clear understanding of what is produced and the locations where different fruits and vegetables are produced. Quantities of the planned harvest. All the locations, types of fruits, vegetables grwon, their quantities need to be maintained in webBased GIS. Every, state will have access to it and has the responsibility to collect and post the information. The site can be open for formers also where they can post their offerings and expected date of harvest. Interested buyers can bid
