India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

Mr. Prime Minister, I would like to share my recent experience when I travel-led with Indian Railways. The common tea (chai) is sold at Rs. 10 per cup by IRCTC vendors. However there is cheating going around when NONE of the vendors fill the cup to the mark. Actually people are getting half and paying for full. I would suggest either full cup is enforced or price reduced to Rs,. 5 .It can be independently checked . It will solve both corruption and high price issue at same time.

The most important and the root to all development is the change of mindset. Mr. Prime Minister has done the right thing. If he continue to do..... we will have a strong India. The duty of every responsible citizens is to follow him sincerely and carry and pass his effective message forward. Because, whenever and wherever we visit public places, no matter the structure may be strong and sophisticated, just observe..... you will get to know why we need to change our mindset. Jai Hind

Govt should construct storage facility in each tahsil where the farmers can open an account and maintain a storage space like bank locker. He can directly store his farm products there and enjoy the benefits of good selling price, avoid losses due to damage and most importantly the intermediate agent chain will be broken

Provinding cold-storage facilities and increasing the export potential by increasing connectivity in the country and abroad if required if necessary using the raw product in to a productive form and selecting area of excess production and installing manufacturing units in that areas to get final product to be sold and exported to other countries 4) easy marketing facility to sell the final product if possible provide plat form to export

By Providing cold-storage facilities at Block level and refrigerated containers/vehicles for transport of vegetables and fruits, such losses can be minimised.

For smooth treatment, Establish a medical collage in this Borak valley, Here no super specialty treatment done,if any problem arise then ,patient will have to move for south i.e., Chennai/Bagalore/Delhi but it is not possible for poor people, For that If Govt look into the matter sympathetically, poor people will saved their lives easily by their low income.

1. Move the harvest to cooler area with high draft fans so that the field heat is quickly dissipated, 2. Chlorine Wash the produce, dry and pack in 1 Kg bags with ventilation 3. Low cost disposable cartons/crates to carry the produce to reduce physical surface damage 4. Make all storage areas free of insects etc. 5. Transport vehicles carrying perishable goods should get priority clearance at all check points and toll collection centres.

the make in india concept of our honourable prime minister is very good ,but to start amanufacturing unit in india is very difficult it has too much red tapism attached to it,the new genereation of india are not intrested in going through red tapism,i can help point out the stages of redtapism ,which if cleared the make in india concept can be cleared ,and the one window clearance is afake and doesnot exsist in any goverment department,the import export policy needs to changed

The problem is due to the unavailability of cold storage facilities particularly for fruits and vegetables in our locality. Not only that i have seen most of the cold storage for storing the potatoes, but very less availability of cold storage facility particularly for fruits and vegetables those are more perishable other commodity. So, urgent need to develop separate cold storage for fruits and vegetables otherwise it could be very difficult to reduce the huge losses occurs in every year.
