It seems that transportation delays and hoarding are the main causes of losses. Suggest to improve transportation by air-freighting the crops to various cities and also abroad till a better solution is reached. Encourage all farmers to sell crops themselves and give receipt to consumers. No need of middle men who waste lot of food crop.

My point is little irrelevant but I think there should be crop insurance like we have other non-life insurance.

30% of the quick perishable fruits and vegetables should be immediately sent to the processing industry within the vicinity. establishment of cold chain for next 40% of the produce and supply chain to the cities in the vicinity. rest 30% of the produce may be made immediately available to the local market. In thsi arrangement, 1. Cold chain for nearer and distant market 40%, Processing Industry within 150 km for 30%, and the first 30% produce for immediate consumption in local & adjoining cities

There is need to improvise the packaging of fruits & vegetables at major production areas and to establish structured infrastructure at marketing places to minimize losses in two major points of supply chain

Have refrigated rail boggies on high movement rail links where fruits and vegetables movement is more. They are filled seperately and dispatched after attaching to next train on the way.

First We need a better Post Harvest Management Technology should be in place.
- After Harvesting Fruits & Vegetables, Govt. should take at MSP like in food grains from the farmers.
- Adequate Cold Storages for the Storage of Fruits & Vegetables like CWC incase of FoodGrains.
- Govt should maintain the supply chain by movement of food grains from surplus to deficient areas under PPP model.
- Better Food Processing Infrastructure should be developed for processing, packaging of fruits & vegetable.
