India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

By improving packaging,by introducing AC Vendor compartment to express trains whose source station/nearby area fruit /vegetable producer,by providing small cold storage at or near railway stations.By providing special permit to trucks carrying fruits & vegetables so that they get priority at Nakas/police check post/octroy tax etc.They should be given access in cities at No Entry Time also if required to prevent fruits gets soiled/rotten.Tecnological improvement of loading/unloading facility.

Sir , Most of the old cold and other storage/ where-houses and now into populated areas. these have become very costly and problems relating to operational issues. so these can be sold through online bidding system and the huze money of such sale can be used in making big/ multipal/ technical advance storage in our country at the edge of city limit. this is practical solution to the problem through which more cold new storage's can be build to keep perishable items saved for long time.Jaihind

1. Abolish Mandi System 2. Encourage Cold Supply Chain (Not just incentives but Bring in Global Companies by explaining the opportunities they have here) 3. Encourage Food Processing 4. Increase the competition in processed foods area (bring international competition - please don't support indian companies through subsidies or favoritism - not supporting them will bring in innovation) 5. Encourage Large Scale Farming (Leasing lands to a corporate, Mechanization, Bio Technology, Eco of Scale)

Building better cold storage systems. Better reach of the vegetables & fruits to regions that require them way before they rot. Else they are neither received by the people in need nor is it consumed in places of abundance, resulting in rotting and wastage.

Mr. Prime Minister, there is a lot of concern about the safety and security of railway passengers and even after a lot of assurance, the ground work is zero. In reservation class free entry of unreserved passengers is continued and the security people do not bother and even the TTE does not mind. Trains like Navchandi express (4511 between Allahabad to Saharanpur) does not have clean coaches and toilets are not in order. Coaches are full of mosquitoe and cockroaches. Please see railway in order

This regarding GST. Kindly consider CENVAT ( Excise) VAT (Sales Tax) and Income Tax can be made into single Tax. Ch. Head of Excise total Excise collected per total turnover multiply by 2.5 Then it should be actual Excise & same way VAT. The modvat / set off to be abolished. The corruption / evasion of TAX because of set off. Same way formulated for Income Tax but it for other than salaried person on transaction. Some medical & other safety insurance implemented for Tax payers as pension scheme

Like FCI, an organisation can be setup to collect the unsold perishable and non perishable goods for preserving the same and to sell the items accordingly to the retail vendors at a lower cost. By this the remaining portion of the unsold can be preserved by air-conditioning or other alternative methods. Some portion may be sold.
