As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Dear Sir, Create cooperative societies for food processing like Amul End to end food processing only will help farmers to get maximum profit Brokers are exploiting farmers Example:for wheat farmers are getting on Rs 15 kg,but the companies are selling atta at a price of Rs 38/kg So make amul like cooperative societies which will collect and sell atta directly to end customers like amul brand Today I purachased ice cream from amul with Rs 40 (150gm)

Respected Sir, I have total different opinion all together. May be not relevant directly on the subject but defiantly this will help many farmers and government of India. Today there are many youths and farmers wanted to grow food & vegetables but unfortunately there are no lands owned by them. Looking the the availability of the land, there is huge government land available and it is fertile. Can government look in to option to lease the land on nominal charges for few years? Thanks

dear frinds, regarding kitchen gardening which i have mentioned in my previous comment, i have certain ideas for govt. to promote this and also have directions for arranging seed and space utilization for it. all vegetables can be grown on buckets , trays, pipes, bottles etc such simple things. people must learn that skill and get information on it.

dear friends calculation says if one have 16ft*8ft area either on terrace or in front of house or in balcony a family can grow so much of vegetables that they dont have to buy vegetables from market each housewife spare 1hr from their TV serial timing she can contribute 1.saving of family Rs:15000 from veg. 2.Rs:15000 on health from not falling ill by consuming fresh and organic food. 3.if atleast 1crore family do this they can add 30000crore to the GDP 4. will kill inflation also.

Our PM was very much concerned about the large-scale killing of our cows for meat resulting in 'pink revolution'! Our farmers will be greatly benefited if they properly utilize the cow-dung and urine for manufacturing bio-fertilizers and can multiply the agricultural output without harming the soil! If the Government of India decides to have COW AS OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL instead of the present 'TIGER', there will be a definite change in the mind-set of the common-man, who worships the COW & BULL.

Sir, N.G.T. direction of online monitoring instrument to check the quality of discharge point for 3M is good for those units have their waste treatment plant for improvements in process industry. But in general , it seems to be the wastage of funds. Government should come forward with viable technology /solution faced in the prevention and control of water pollution.

I would like to suggest a scheme in the name of Dr Babasaheb Amedkar. The scheme is to use the agriculture waste, kitchen waste as well the solid waste out of toilets etc. of villages and urban areas to generate bio gas and provide lights in community areas like gardens, study rooms for the needy. This will be a befittign tribute in his 125th anniversary to the Great leader who once studied below the street lights. The scheme can be part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

Borrowed idea, maybe govt. can make use of media to advertise about NGOs (not of the kind as "Greenpeace"), specially the ones that are proving themselves to make maximum utilization of money instead of internal corruption (within NGO). Surely, there are atleast some rich people who are kind enough to lend but but the idea never crossed their minds.
