As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Sir, "More crop per drop" & "Soil cards", the idea of optimising output with good management of water resources & soil health, increasing technological input for correct fertiliser use & better seed quality, direct procurement & e-auction for weeding out middlemen, better storage facilities & improved freight corridor will all help in improving the lot of the farmers. Agricultural resource offices should be set up in all taluks to educate farmers, agricultural college students can intern here.

Crop production is vital to Japan despite limited arable land (13% of the total area) and the highest degree of industrialization in Asia. Steep land (more than 20°) has been terraced for rice and other crops, carrying cultivation in tiny patches far up mountainsides. With the aid of a temperate climate, adequate rainfall, soil fertility built up and maintained over centuries

Agriculture in Israel is a highly developed industry: Israel is a major exporter of fresh produce and a world-leader in agricultural technologies despite the fact that the geography of Israel is not naturally conducive to agriculture. More than half of the land area is desert, and the climate and lack of water resources do not favor farming. Only 20% of the land area is naturally arable.Today agriculture represents 2.5% of total GDP and 3.6% of exports.

SIR NOWADAYS MOST OF THE FIELDS WERE CONVERTED INTO HOUSES IN MOST OF THE VILLAGES IN INDIA. SO THE CULTIVATION WERE DESTROYED.THIS IS BECAUSE THE PROFIT FROM AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS FOR THE FARMERS WERE LESS.BUT IN CITIES THE COST OF THESE VEGETABLES WERE HIGH. SO GOVERNMENT CAN FORM THE COOPERATIVE VEGETABLE SOCIETY TO BUY VEGETABLE FROM FARMER AT CORRECT RATE AND SELL TO THE CONSUMERS AT CORRECT RATE.BY THIS METHOD BOTH CONSUMERS AND FARMERS WERE BENEFITED

Sir, we see beautification of roads being done in the middle of the road and near the pavements which are constructed with concrete by raising the height by one foot. Instead, if the beautification is done at ground level or a foot below the ground level, the rain water gets harvested automatically and also reduces the cost of regular maintenance. The plants which we see as walls in parks can also act as road dividers absorbing vehicle smoke, harvest water and providing greenery and cool breeze.
