As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Sir, most young adults, just after school final or in intervening college years have a long summer break. Those interested in this group along with students of agricultural colleges can be taught & tasked to study cultivable & forest lands, to note the requirements of the people of the region, do soil study, take census of flora & fauna specific to region & study the impact of aggressive farming/industrialisation of said areas. This data can then be analysed and corrective measures instituted.

Sir, the first requirement will be mapping available land based on soil quality, water availability, air-water-soil pollutants, stakeholders - rural & tribal, industrial needs. Next is to improve our seeds, promote native varieties, regulate use of fertiliser & pesticides, improve food storage & processing facilities, use more technology in agri & horticulture & help with e-auction of produce. Collating these data with appropriate strategising along with afforestation will bring rich dividends.

Our government does a regressive role in rural employment. When govt starts rural prog. it becomes a voluntary and non-remunaretive job but in urban schemes heavy payments are made even they cheat. This must stop.Rural work must become attractive.

Afforestation can increase food supply and employment creation in villages. More trees should be planted to generate rural employment.Trees are life and life line for villagers.Tree plantation , protection, care watering etc will generate employment for villagers.

our natural resources are in disarray.Management of natural resources like air, water and forests is essential to achieve food & rural lively hood security in India.Forest resources is fast depleting and adequate afforestation is not seen any where.Plantation of trees and especially fruiting trees is required in villages to increase livelihood.

INSTALLATION OF MINI SOLAR PANELS IN FARMS TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY,MODERN AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION LIKE DRIP IRRIGATION,BIOFERTILIZERS AND BETTER MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES WOULD ENSURE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITH ENSURING FOOD AND RURAL LIVELIHOOD SECURITY.HOWEVER FOR ENCOURAGEMENT TO ADOPT SUCH METHODS WOULD REQUIRE GOVERNMENT'S ASSISTANCE IN FORM OF INCENTIVES TO FARMERS IS REQUIRED.AND RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN AGRICULTURE RESEARCH IS REQUIRED TO YIELD MAXIMUM OUTCOMES.

HOWEVER INDIA'S POPULATION IS GROWING FASTER AND TO CATER NEEDS OF 121 CRORE PEOPLE FOOD SECURITY IS OF CRUCIAL IMPORTANCE.ADOPTION OF ORGANIC AND ECO FARMING LIKE USE OF BIOFERTILIZERS COULD HELP IN INCREASING YIELDS WITHOUT HAMPERING SOIL FERTILITY.ALSO BETTER MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES LIKE WATER RESOURCES THROUGH RAIN WATER HARVESTING,DRIP IRRIGATION AND ECO FRIENDLY FERTILISERS WILL NOT ENSURE RURAL LIVELIHOOD BY RAISING FARMERS INCOME BUT WOULD ALSO FULFILL TARGET OF FOOD SECURITY.

IN ORDER TO HAVE BALANCE BETWEEN THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION,WE NEED TO ADOPT THE MODEL OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WHICH REFERS TO THE IDEOLOGY OF ENSURING DEVELOPMENT WITHOUT HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT.INDIA WHICH WAS A MAJOR IMPORTER OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS WITNESSED A STUPENDOUS TRANSFORMATION IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY AFTER THE ADVENT OF GREEN REVOLUTION WHICH REPRESENTS THE POWER OF HUMAN CAPITAL IN THE FORM OF HUMAN INTELLECT WHICH HELPED IN INCREASING YIELD.
