Existence of insanitary latrines is the root cause of manual scavenging. As per the ‘Houselisting and Housing Census Data, 2011’, there were about 26 lakh insanitary latrines in the country in 2011. All existing insanitary latrines need to be identified and either demolished or converted into sanitary latrines under the provisions of the MS Act.

What innovations can be used to convert insanitary latrines into sanitary latrines in shortest possible time?

Pessimists in this country are the main hurdle in bringing down any good initiative or positive movement. Pseudo intellectuals are required to be sidelined and those who want to work with honesty of purpose need to be brought forward in the mainstream. It is a tall order for a large country like ours but not impossible and can be achieved with sentiment prevailing in the country. OPPORTUNITY DOES NOT KNOCK THE DOOR TWICE. Mass education and creating fear of law are the real options.

Among the all problems , the most important problem is the population and first of all, population should be control, bcoz all the problems are generated bcoz of population like unemployment, scavangement etc. and should be limitation to born the children (1 or 2) and we should encourage the people to adopt the orphan child to safe their future.

Technology is the only way. Auto-flush at regular intervals, water free bio loos are among the solutions. All public announcement systems in place (temple, mosque etc. included) should be compulsorily used to spread the message of cleanliness. This message should also be essentially delivered during assemblies. Surprise inspections in a massive way should also be introduced. All these steps if executed sincerely will surely deliver results. Thank you

We don't need new technologies. We are self sufficient with the technologies for this issue. The thing we need is 'Awareness'. People should be educated with healthy way of living.Insanitary Latrines are created one not a stuff which accidentally emerged. We people are the reason for this issue. So we need a change.

We can create a universal pit for every village to connect it from the toilets. It will help to increase ground water level plus rich source of manure.
