Existence of insanitary latrines is the root cause of manual scavenging. As per the ‘Houselisting and Housing Census Data, 2011’, there were about 26 lakh insanitary latrines in the country in 2011. All existing insanitary latrines need to be identified and either demolished or converted into sanitary latrines under the provisions of the MS Act.

What innovations can be used to convert insanitary latrines into sanitary latrines in shortest possible time?

( 4 ) But insanitary condtn. has much to do with toilet-usage pattern of individuals, is it not? If we take example of railways, for about 46 passengers in 3-tier II class compartment, a 500 liter-tank caters for more than 20 hours. But, in this, only washing is considered - not need to flushing of toilet. In general, wash+ flushing may consume about 6 to 7 liters(or, with upper limit of 10 liters). This much water must be there in OHT X No. of users supposed to use = if toilet+tank is used.

( 3 ) "How about playing a constant announcement on leaving the latrines cleaner so that, next user feels comfortable to use it?" "Where possible, visual advt. / display on always leaving such public toilets in cleaner condtn.to next user can be thought of." Or, combinations of both- I write the lines taking availability of water granted + suitable buckets etc. and presence of combo of 'Urinals + Western-style toilets + Indian-style WC toilets'. I read news on reuse of toilet water as solution

Clean India idea is great. The town where I stay has no effect of the same at all. There is a need to change the attitude and create civic sense for which cleanliness should be made a part of text book of schools.

( 2 ) I see these days a lot of TV & Radio-based advts. on use of toilets. The next step should be one to educate general public on clean-toilets help promote welfare of gen. public in a big way. Lack of awareness due to multiple reasons is the only cause of insanitary condtn. that prevails with public latrines. Those available on pay-n-use basis provide only some-what cleaner ones but not to any marked extent. WHY?The users are unmindful of the next user who could be left to hold his/her nose!

Involve as many NGOs and volunteers as possible and direct sate govts.to make their Municipality pro-active. There should be no latrines constructed without water facility.

Insanitary public latrines are NOT present only in India but are 'also seen' in overseas! In India at least, there are people appointed to clean such toilets but, labour being costly, no one attends to such public toilets in some foreign countries. Some bad memories still cause uncomfortable moments of remembrance to me! Foreigners can avoid use of such public-toilets by using other ones but with India's huge population, that too are used to accept any condtn.,unclean ones don't trouble them

maintenance is the big problem and in lot of latrine people are not using flush, so by maintaining it properly and flush system should be provided so that requirement of the water can be reduced and purpose will be served.

PM Sir, It is suggested to depute aam adami like me, in your goa govt higher position with full power so that i can plan out a proper action plan for resolving all local problems of goa people. MLA will do their work in their own interest, but if a separate person is deputed in your govt, with full power, can see the various aspects for development of one state, he can see the revenue of state, can create job from young peoples coming from college, can see law and order in state and many more.

PM Sir, It is shocking to shift our Chief Minister Manohar Parikar, to New Delhi for taking charge of Defence Minister. for last financial year India has loose revenue of 48000 million USD from export of Iron Ore, due to ban in Goa. Kindly arranged to lift the ban asap, so that export starts from Goa. Our India Govt is loosing huge loss due to ban for Iron Ore Export. Kindly depute now a good new chief minister in goa, so that ban is lifted soon. minning starts soon. people get bread and butter.
