Mahatma Gandhiji had a large following of people from the villages because he said “Graamraajya hi Raamraajya”. It means that if villages live in prosperity with adequate agriculture and irrigation, the village would flourish as if god himself was ruling the village. He meant that the growth of cities and towns depended on the growth of the villages. He believed in “Graamraajya”. So, he told them that this would be the root of India's glorious independence.

Today, we see modern leaders cajoling the masses with promises that they never intend to keep – let alone practicing what they preach in their own lives. One cannot bring world peace to all unless a leader demonstrates peaceful acts of kindness daily. Mahatma Gandhi believed that we are all children of God. We should not discriminate amongst ourselves based on faith, caste, creed or any other differences.

During Mahatma Gandhi’s lifetime there was no discussion about climate change and environment, but the statesman led such a life that he did not leave any carbon footprint. He showed what living in harmony with nature is. He showed that it is important to leave a clean and green planet for the future generations

Mahatma Gandhi used to say the God and nature have given everything to fulfil a human being’s need but not the greed. The natural resources are not enough if we want to satisfy our greed. He used to say our life should be need based and not greed based

"The teachings of Mahatma Gandhi for maintaining peace, harmony and non-violence are extremely relevant and important in the modern-day society, where we are seeing a rising trend of people resorting to violence in addressing their issues and conflicts are seen,"

Needless to say, Gandhi was a big proponent of truthfulness. He warned people against blindly accepting information without careful examination. Propaganda doesn’t make something true. Repeating of information doesn’t make something true. The attainment of truth happens through careful examination, a critical eye, and an open mind.
