Nowadays because of concretization everywhere, the water which used to seen in the ground and recharge the ground water supply has now become very small. To help that, I think we should connect all the rain water drainage systems to a certain point which will deposit all the ground water bodies instead of letting that water flow into the river or a canal. Connecting these natural ground water tanks should also help.

1. Municipal or corporation level implementation of water recycling
2. Diverting over flow water from river mouth through arid zones or water soaking pits.
3. Creation of Water storage Assets via NREGA
4. Roads construction going green via permeable pavings.
5. Awareness on shower heads, mechanical flushes in excess usage of water.
6. Creation of separate certification authority like BEE to certify domestic taps, shower heads, toilets with flushes on optimum usage of water.

Many cities are alive on ground water & water level is going down continually. India has huge area covered by roads. Due to tar road, lot of rain water quickly flushes away via drain.
We can save lot of rain water via having rain water harvesting points in roads/highways along with individual house/apartments . This will help in many aspect such as increasing the ground water level, growing trees roads side, to keeping climate cool, ease from traffic jams due to water clogging.
