Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

I am from village background. my village people digging bore wells in summer but their effort is waste because no water in ground levels. this is lack of awareness in villages.Government is failed to control digging bore wells and also failed to create awareness on water conservation. Myself tried to create awareness but i failed, they are not listening my words. Please make sure that govt. go through this issue.

Sir may I also request that proper measures be instituted and initiated to ensure that no water bodies / lakes in major cities are encroached by the Land Mafia. This is only possible by a strong Political will of the Govt and this would add to great extent to save further depletion of available water resources.

The abundant water resources in the North East portion of our country are well know to all of us. Huge quantities of water go waste every year. If these waters are channelized to the drier areas in the country it would do a great help to the farmers. This would also mean to provide abundance of employment opportunities that may arise in achieving this enormous task. Simultaneously electricity generation by Hydel means can also be achieved when this process is carried out.

Mr. Narendra Modiji,Honourable Prime Minister of India Some Suggestions for efficient utilisation of River Water 1.The water of Godavari and Krishna River in Andra Pradesh, flows to the Bay of Bengal. 2.The British in 1806 built a fresh water canal to transport Goods from East Godavari in AP to Villupuram in TN called Buckingham Canal / National Waterway - 4 3.This canal is abandoned .If it is widened, silt is removed, most of the Water going to sea can be used for drinking and irrigation

For smart use of water in agriculture, first of all consolidation of land should be completed. If a farmer gets his land at one place, then he will think of having assured water source individually or on community basis.Canal water is good, tube well/riverlift is better and micro irrigation is best.
