Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

There should be proper management and checking of public taps without upper taps to close them which causes water wastage and water logging problems and further health related concern like water related disease results in death. Major cause of death concern in India .

I stay in Pune and currently there are lot of roads that are being made in concrete. Concrete does not absorb water. Hence rain water will go waste. The local governing body claims that pipes are placed at the side of the road which are covered with cement blocks. However do we know if the contractors are constructing as per the design? If the traditional tar roads absorb water then shouldnt we be building tar roads?

Sir we at western ghat in the coastal belt witness lots of water wastage during rainy days. High time we introduced rain water harvesting so that the surplus water may be diverted to northern Karnataka which is a dry area. Secondly there are certain rivers which swell and flood. These rivers must be diverted and connected to other river lets so that minimum wastage is envisaged. Thirdly there should be drinking water facility by constructing huge RO water filters so that any common man use.Thank

Just like google map maker there should be contest to identify small water bodies through google earth or GIS system available. This will help to map our water resources at one central place and also help in deepening of those water bodies to store additional capacity of water

CSR policy should be strengthened . water overflow sensors/alarming systems must be made available to Public as they can be cheaply and easily manufactured .water purifiers at subsidized rates to be provided in rural areas( like LEDs). Public awareness for water saving through Media can be much helpful. Because If we save here then only we can meet demands of water scarce areas.

Sir,50% of water can be saved & reused by just putting a system of recycling the water from the bathroom, as we drain the used water as it is, Instead we can collect the used water in a separate tank with a filter and this collection can be used for the flushing of toilet. Sir why we use the potable water for flushing? The overflow of the tank can be sent for water recharge. The flushed mixture should go to a separator separating solid and liquid. The solid becomes compost.rest b drained. Regard
