Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

1.For all new buildings and houses water harvesting system should be made mandatory. 2.Replace all old tapes with the automatic on and off tap that will work via sensors in all public places, offices and buildings. 3.Management of rain water in rural areas. Leakage of pipes can be identified with the help of technology.

SMART WATER: 1) Identifying, and safely maintaining the water flow path (Water flowing path to the water reservoirs must be safely maintained). 2) Two sides of the wall must be well constructed. 3) Authorities must submit daily inspection and maintenance report in public websites, regarding that they are safely maintaining the water path. 4) These steps "must" be taken months before the rainy seasons.

Dear sir, I am jani basha shaik and my suggestion for smart water is... 1) In all private, government working sectors and public places, please provide/fit drinking water valves convinence to all physicality chalenged persons. Then they are easily taking the water from them have water taps and they are no injure from public water taps for receiving to water and they will save wastage of water from they can have water taps covinently at all public places or they have working places.

Every independent house needs to implement Water Harvesting System and big townships must have water harvesting as well Sewage Treatment Plant. Need to develop technology to get water converted from Dew and Fog as it is caused due to humidity existing in the Air. It will be extremely helpful for drought prone areas.

Measurement is essential to change behavior. Use smart measurement to localize sources of problems, & test efficacy of solutions. E.g. Water quality of a river degrades as we go downstream. Each inlet adds its own set of pollutants. A measurement system downstream of each inlet will help identify the sources & pattern of pollution causing factors. Specific targets can be set to relevant municipal body & tracked. Same model replicated for each inlet allows macro/micro analysis/improvement.
