Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Fines on creating mess inside station premises with very effective staff will increase non- fare revenues to a great extent. And for effective staff put strict penalties on the staff too by reducing their salary if found guilty in mismanagement of railways premises

First of all impose serious fines on those who create mess in toilets by implanting CCTV OUTSIDE BATHROOM DOORS. Also fines on those who create mess by spitting and urinating on tracks.SERIOUS TAX FINES.JUST LIKE METRO RAILWAYS.

1. Develop hotel type accommodation at major tourist location with modern amenities at vacant railway lands. Charges should be market driven. 2. Make railway stations clean. The railway ticket checkers should not only make fines from ticket less persons but they should also fine steeply for those who make stations unclean/dirty. These fines should be 10 times than now. 3. Give on lease railway vacant places on stations for small departmental stores near platforms mainly .

AS RAILWAY AUTHORITY WANT TO INCREASE NON FARE REVENUE, THE FOLLOWING MEASURES MAY BE TAKEN:- (I) DEPUTE A PART OF RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE & CIVIC VOLUNTEERS TO CATCH THE PEOPLE WHO R SPOILING THE CLEANNESS OF THE STATION & THEY MAKE FINE RS 500 FOR THAT AND A TARGET PER DAY MAY BE GIVEN TO THEM AND THEY HAVE TO FULFIL THAT. A PART OF FINE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THEM AS COMMISSION. COMMISSION WILL GIVE INTEREST TO DO THE JOB (II) IN THIS WAY RAIL WILL GET REVENUE , STATION WILL BECOME MORE CLEAN.
