Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Presently central forces moves on pmt. transfer. Govt pays them for household transportation. Tie up with transport agencies for door to door freight service. Savings would be double. One side income to railways and other side no over payment on transportation by govt employees. Further give station wall for Advt. for certain time. Double savings. Ad revenue plus maintenance savings. Make cards like metro cards for payments. Double benefit by ad revenue on card plus cashless transactions.

incentive based salary for government workers. laziness and procrastination has become a habit of government servants. too much security in the job makes them less useful. please increase speed of trains. rail track is only for trains. if trains are running at an average speed of 40 km/ hour isn't this a waste of all resources?

I think railway can gave shops on rent inside as well as outsides the stations to. Sold old railway tracks, spare parts and invest such money in business. Make its own insurance company, instead of partnership with others. Railway either increase the quality of food or can outsource such service on rent to well known food chain. Gave cash back, organise lucky draw on food meal booking.

Normally in a long journey people kill their time. If commuters are provided with features that can add quality to the time spent at reasonable cost, commuters can enjoy the journey instead of passively spending the time. Ex. A compartment dedicated for screening bollywood movies with theatre like effects. Commuters can opt movies based on schedule.Seat and berth allocation needs dynamic allocation. Similarly value added services like spa, etc.

create shopping malls in the vicinity of railway station. people can buy groceries, milk, vegetables, fruits on their way home. This will help daily commuters especially ladies. local handicrafts can be sold in the showrooms as people have ample time on platforms as they wait for trains.

I have told many time that our india is great and have more than enough everything as all the railway stations are covered with GI sheets. Which has no use on the top of roof. So all the main railway stations made with concrete rooftop so we can use the space on the rooftop with this we can construct 5 star hotels, shoping malls, parking lots, rest rooms, hotels, and also can use the space on ground floor for more plateforms YOU JUST IMAGIN IF OUR RAILWAY STATIONS MADE WITH CONCRETE INSTEAD

Collects the Charges and penalties from the people occupying the railway land in all over India. If Railway do not to remove the encroachment, it should be sold to them at market price with term loan financing. Charges for allowing canteens and food courts in the premises of railway shall be increased, depending on the volume of business location Solar panels shall be installed on the station roofs to generate electricity for local use. Timber trees etc can be planted in vacant land.

Sir, In few years we have seen some people got trapped in b/w rail track and platform inside. So that there may be loss of life if ignored at that. So ,I requested you that plz look into this the case of. KARNAL(KUN) and Rajkot ...Women get trapped in these cases. You must change the platform in order that there is no gap b/w rail and platform

I think Max. reason of looses of railways is due to cheating. Please be modernized platform with high technology and fully cover no one can come on platforms without ticket. Train door not open without swipping the ticket and be sure no one can enter in train in midway. When tickets swip mid way and door open immediately come notice of headquarters. So no one can cheat with railways nor publications neither t. C or hawker. 1T. C can issue ticket passengers can check the status online in train
