National Statistical Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a Discussion Paper titled “Methodological Improvements in Compilation of National Accounts Aggregates Using Expenditure Approach”. This exercise is part of the preparation for the new series of National Accounts Statistics with FY 2022–23 as the base year, which is scheduled for release on 27 February 2026.

The Discussion Paper outlines the proposed methodological refinements and improvements in the compilation of National Accounts aggregates using the Expenditure Approach, with the objective of enhancing the quality, accuracy, and usability of national accounts data.

Comments and feedback on the Discussion Paper are invited from experts, academicians, government bodies, state governments, financial institutions, users of national accounts data, and other stakeholders. Suggestions may be shared at: ddg3.nad@mospi.gov.in by 7 January 2026.

Respected finance minister, Data Source Enhancements, The shift from "survey-only" to High-Frequency Indicators (HFI) and Big Data is the most significant technological leap: Administrative Data: Heavy reliance on GST (Goods and Services Tax) data and Corporate Filings (MCA-21) to capture business expenditures more accurately. Digital Footprints: Using satellite imagery for construction activity (to estimate GFCF) and web-scraping for online prices to better deflate nominal expenditure into "Real GDP." Updated Base Years: Most countries are moving to a 2022-23 base year to account for the structural shifts in consumption patterns following the COVID-19 pandemic (e.g. increased spending on healthcare and digital services). Addressing "Discrepancies" Historically, the Expenditure Approach often yielded a different total than the Production Approach. Recent improvements aim to: Eliminate the "Discrepancy" Line Item:

सर, आजादी के बाद चुनाव में टिकिट देना कोई मजबूरी हो सकती है,किंतु मंत्री बनाने से पूर्व उसकी भ्रष्टाचार की पूर्ण गोपनीय जांच तो कराई ही जा सकती है, देश की कोई बागडोर किसी भ्रष्टाचारी के हाथों में न जाने पाए, यह भी जिम्मेदारी मुखिया की हो, भ्रष्टाचार गंभीर अपराध है, अगर किसी भ्रष्टाचारी को कोई पद मिलता है तो ऐसे समझो जैसे (जलेबी की रखवाली......) सर जी आपसे देश हित में ऐसी नीति निर्धारण की स्कारात्मक अपेक्षा है। सर जी प्रणाम जय भारत जय मोदी नववर्ष की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं,

सांख्यिकी मंत्रालय ने भारत की GDP गढ़ना के तरीके में सुधार करने के लिए एक चर्चा पत्र जारी किया है 2022 _ 23 को नया आधार वर्ष बनाया गया है इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य Expenditure Approach के माध्यम से देश की अर्थव्यवस्था के आंकड़ों को अधिक सटीक और आधुनिक बनाना है
