Dear Madam ji
“Considering rising inflation, urban living costs, and the removal of exemptions under the new tax regime, income up to ₹16 lakh should be made tax-free. This will strengthen middle-class purchasing power, support India’s skilled workforce, simplify tax compliance, and boost consumption-led growth without significantly impacting revenue.”

₹16 Lakh Is No Longer “High Income”
Due to inflation, urban living costs, rent, EMIs, education, healthcare, ₹16 lakh is now middle-class income, especially for IT and skilled professionals.
In metros, monthly expenses easily cross ₹80,000–₹1,00,000.
👉 Taxing such income reduces real purchasing power.

Higher thresholds or wider slabs to reduce tax burden further on middle-income taxpayers.
🔹 Possible extension of zero tax limit beyond ₹12 L for specific categories.
🔹 Continuation of rebate & simplified taxation for salaried class.
👉 Once Budget 2026 is officially announced (usually on 1st February 2026), I can give you an exact updated table. Just let me know!
