From a middle- and lower-income household’s perspective, the current design of the new tax regime is economically harsh. Self-occupied residential housing — a basic necessity rather than an investment — receives no relief on home-loan interest, while rental and investment properties continue to enjoy interest deductions. This creates an inequitable outcome for first-time, single-home owners who service long-term housing debt entirely from post-tax income. Without altering the structure of the new tax regime or reintroducing deductions, the government may consider a targeted interest-equalisation support for first self-occupied residential home loans. Under this approach, a fixed percentage of annual interest paid could be credited directly to eligible taxpayers as a post-tax support, subject to clearly defined income and loan caps. Such a mechanism would preserve tax simplicity, avoid exemption-based distortions, reduce household debt stress, and strengthen long-term financial stabilit

Education should be a top priority in the Union Budget 2026–27. Government schools need better infrastructure, digital classrooms, libraries, and laboratories, especially in rural areas. Teacher recruitment should be timely, and regular training and skill upgradation programs must be strengthened to improve teaching quality. Special focus should be given to early childhood education, foundational literacy, and inclusive education for disadvantaged students. Scholarships, mid-day meals, and student support schemes should be enhanced to reduce dropouts. An education-focused budget will empower teachers, improve learning outcomes, and help build a skilled and responsible future generation for India.

Railways should stop making Non Ac coaches as these days AC is not considered as luxury and is essential due to climate change during past years. Hence all the coaches including General must be changed to AC coaches which relax the suffering of majority of public travelling in general coaches as all general coaches are occupied 2 or 3 times of actual occupancy which cause suffocation. The step of modernization of general coaches to ac coach provide a big relief to General public which included each section of society

In new tax regime there must be a relief on NPS deduction by employees as this amount is for their pension. The contribution made by any govt/psu/private employee is taxable under New Tax regime. The average return in NPS under default scheme is about 8% while each employee whose income is taxable under new tax regime has to pay an average 15% as incometax on the subscription made by him/her during the financial year. Considering NPS a social security scheme Minister of Finance may consider for relief on NPS contribution made by the employee in this budget. As of now only contribution by employer is allowed as relief under section 80D. The amount contributed towards New Pension scheme should be tax free.
