My Suggestion for the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” Programme When the broadcast of India’s popular programme “Mann Ki Baat” begins, I suggest that the programme could start with a few school children reciting our National School Pledge — a pledge that is familiar to every Indian and especially meaningful in today’s times. Just as we all stand and pay respect to our National Anthem, hearing this pledge at the beginning of the programme would inspire both children and adults to value it deeply. This simple addition would make the programme more appealing to young people as well. The frequent repetition of the pledge would help it become ingrained in the minds of citizens, thereby naturally strengthening national unity. It could even serve as a model for other countries to follow. Similarly, at the end of the programme, children could conclude by saying: “I will protect my nation. I will contribute to the unity of my people.” Such a gesture would be warmly received by all
