The General Aids to Marine Navigation along the Indian Coast is administrated by Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) as per Lighthouse Act, 1927. Over the period of time maritime sector has undergone massive change. There have been enormous technological developments in the field of Aids to Marine Navigation. To incorporate the global best practices, technological developments and India's International obligations in the field of Aids to Marine Navigation, the Draft Aids to Navigation Bill 2020 is prepared to replace existing Lighthouse Act 1927.

The Draft Aids to Navigation Bill (to replace Lighthouse Act 1927) is hereby circulated for comments of all concerned.

Navigation-Tourism, Trade, marine agriculture, energy harvest. Control: Navy and Central Government. New technologies: Satellite and optical fiber based Internet. Robotic technology are also being used. Joint control system with neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, Australia, etc.

Govt must established integrated navigation command including nevy coast guard national disaster management authority along with police force so that our country can deter any mis happenings

sir or madam just a doubt when you do have this law and it applies to indian coasts. surely then it must also apply for inland navigation? or is it only applicanle to navigation along arabian sea or bay of bengal?

Sir, Central control system would be implemented in Indian navigation system.Because our costal area covers huge area compared to other countries. Under the control of Indian navy,our navigation system can be more developed in future.

The draft bill is proposed to replace the Lighthouse Act, 1927 to incorporate the best global practices, technological developments and India's International obligations in the field of Aids to Marine Navigation. The draft bill provides for empowering Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) with additional power and functions such as Vessel Traffic Service, Wreck flagging, training and certification, implementation of other obligations under International .

Respected Prime Minister Navigation is India's large ship system, with modernity, there is an urgent need for improvement and technological change. Navigation should be developed with basic modern integrations of network, Android and security and information so that the ship system can strengthen and enable India and prove to be helpful in economic development of the country.
