As per the recommendations made in NEP 2020, a set of standards has been developed to ensure that all students at all levels of school education are taught by passionate, motivated, highly qualified, professionally trained, and well-equipped teachers. National Professional Standard for Teachers(NPST) would help in determining the attributes of the teachers at different levels of career pathways. In addition to this, NPST focuses on preparations, practice and performance improvement of all teachers. The standards and related policies are in line with the fundamental principles given in the NEP 2020 to provide high quality education to all. NCTE was mandated by the Ministry to formulate a guiding document and platform for operationalizing NPST.

National Professional Standard for Teachers (NPST) will monitor the design of pre-service teacher education program. This could be then adopted by states and determine all aspects of teacher career management, including tenure, professional development efforts, salary increases, promotions, and other recognitions.

In this regard, a draft document on NPST has been developed by NCTE after incorporating ideas and suggestions received from experts of various domains. The draft document has been released on November 17, 2021 to invite the suggestions and feedback from all stakeholders.

Why not teachers be females in vlsses upto 12th.We hear lot of complaints about the misbehaviour a of masters towards the young girls.Atleast by 12 th STD, girls would know to take care of or protect themselves. In many schools and colleges bribe is a selection criteria. Passion or knowledge is less valued in such cases.Family background should also be considered while selecting..Only teachers from a disciplined and affectionate family can provide good thoughts and behaviour to the children

1. Selection process of teachers to be more robust to select only those who really have flair for teaching. 2. Quality production based Career progression. Inputs from parents on related aspects of teaching may also be sought. 3. As such they are the makers of future India, ther are suppose to be role models for students. Therefore, stringent action to be taken on undisciplined cases. Late coming, early going, absence, abusing etc shouldn't be tolerated. 4. No home zone postings in any case.

Partiality among students by teachers. Teachers should not be partial based on gender, caste, religion & other things. Such discrimination by teachers should be punished with minimum 2 weeks suspension from the service.

Stop addiction by teachers in school. Many teachers chew Gutkha, Tobacco, Pan Masala in school. This is very bad habit creating bad impact on students. So government should apply strict norms & suspend such addictive teachers for minimum 1 week if they found eating such substances or cigarette smoking during school hours.
