As per the recommendations made in NEP 2020, a set of standards has been developed to ensure that all students at all levels of school education are taught by passionate, motivated, highly qualified, professionally trained, and well-equipped teachers. National Professional Standard for Teachers(NPST) would help in determining the attributes of the teachers at different levels of career pathways. In addition to this, NPST focuses on preparations, practice and performance improvement of all teachers. The standards and related policies are in line with the fundamental principles given in the NEP 2020 to provide high quality education to all. NCTE was mandated by the Ministry to formulate a guiding document and platform for operationalizing NPST.

National Professional Standard for Teachers (NPST) will monitor the design of pre-service teacher education program. This could be then adopted by states and determine all aspects of teacher career management, including tenure, professional development efforts, salary increases, promotions, and other recognitions.

In this regard, a draft document on NPST has been developed by NCTE after incorporating ideas and suggestions received from experts of various domains. The draft document has been released on November 17, 2021 to invite the suggestions and feedback from all stakeholders.

Transfer policy of techers in several states is hampering education imparted by them.Ex. when teachers are posted away from home, their focus is less on education and more on transport and other family issues. Fixed term like 3-5 yr should be given with each posting.Their preference should be taken while posting. Why our system think of punishing teachers by sending them to remote areas, they are teachers not criminals. Please change this mindset and transfer policy.it would help education system

While hiring techers, their demo letures should be seriously evaluated because it has been seen that sometimes teachers have great knowledge but they are poor at communicating and teaching it to the students.

Teachers with vast experience of previous education model needs to be equipped with proper digital skills through capacity building programme. As NEP is new for them it's not their fault, just give them ample resources and time to transition in this new model of NEP

Teachers are only focused on their subject of study and book prescribed by education board. I want teacher should also focus on overall knowledge of life so mental development of students can possible. If science subject teacher is good in sports than students will automatically motivated to join sports. This way I want teachers should be very active and knowledgeable person. Dear Modiji Some of the Headmaster's of the school are not taking all Teachers into their confidence to run school properly. only few Teachers are doing chapluski. my point is that Govt should decentralized some powers of Headmaster and give to all senior Teachers

Dear Modiji Yes there is need of setting standard of the teachers. since Teachers created all other Profession. Teachers should get weightege everywhere. Teachers are multitalented so govt are using them to do any service. but Teachers are not getting promotion. specially in Goa there are lot of Teachers vacancy to be filled. Govt hold the situation as it is but in Pvt educational institutions not a single post of the teachers is empty. why it is so? please look into this matter 🙏🙏

NPST will be created to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas on the use of technology to enhance learning.Teachers will undergo rigorous training to use online teaching platforms and tools and become high-quality online content creators. There will be an emphasis on the teacher’s role in facilitating active student engagement.

Standards are clear expectations of skills that teachers should be able to demonstrate. They may be used in training institutions, schools, inspectorate bodies, continuous professional development at an individual, school or cluster based level, training, induction, and self-development.
