During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

Citizens are invited to suggest ways for encouraging and motivating the masses to avoid the usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day, every week.

Modi Sir, I am having car and bike but I have purchased a Bicycle to reach my work place daily because I don't think it right to spend fuel daily to reach my workplace. According to me it is matter of luxury to spend fuel daily for short destinations. People will have to change their mindset

I can understand the motto behind this initiative. my suggestions are- 1)start bus/mini bus (cng based) for any kind of working organization for their employees who lives far from their work place(for all sector either public or psu aor private). 2) in every college where campus has hostel facility, make bicycle mandatory for every one as in IIT-Kanpur. we dont need to take examples from western countries when our country already has such great eg. 3)traffic rule strictly followed by everyone.

Greetings to Fellow Shrest Bharatiya Wasi, The idea of avoiding fossil fuel for a day is commendable and practical. Towards implementation following minor amendments in work culture merit attention: - a) Minor relaxation in dress code in work places on those days. b) Like pedestrians footpaths, roads to have a corridor for cyclists (specific days). c) Non-financial incentives for health consciousness and better lifestyle be promoted. By nature and culture we Indians are ready.

Indians Just need motivation to become futurist visionary, prepare a video slides and include harms of petrol to nature, economy, health then benefits of cycle/walk/public transport. Side by side show images of foreign countries who did same and now reaping good environment to live for them and their children.Add Youth people taking pledge at last to join and ask question to others "what you wants for your child, short term pleasure and long term pain?",also add farmers pain, climate change effects

Sir, In all due respect, it is the best way to save petrol/diesel but in the past few years the price have gone down during the election and rises after election. i still did not understand this concept. To go one day without using petrol/diesel in metropolitan cities is very difficult at the public transportation is limited and the population is high & i would kindly give a suggestion to prepare pathway for bicycle so that who are residing close to their work place can commute.

""""ENERGY INDEPENDENT INDIA."""" There is a break even point between solar power and PCRA ka power. GOI should keep this in mind and either incentive or invest in EV public charging station. By doing so large amount of EV start playing in India, and slowly by 2020. All pollution making vehicles will be washed away automatically. Huge amount of foreign currency will be saved.

Sir, Kindly provide cycle path along with shade to protect from sun and rain. Maximum official personnel will use the cycle for distance of 4 to 5 km radius, due to health conscious. Government has to provide infrastructure only.
