During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

Citizens are invited to suggest ways for encouraging and motivating the masses to avoid the usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day, every week.

The last date of submission is 15th April, 2017, 12:00PM

Suggestions:- ------------- 1)Spend awareness through schools and colleges. 2)Media Houses 3)Reward General public with small cash prizes and certificates on the road who campaign for this initiative.

Respected Sir, It is very good practice. For reducng the CO2 emissions and reduce the import . In panasonic group already we are practicising in the june,month as enironment month . In that month one day we are practising "Non driving vehicles for one day. So as your proposed one day in a week can be celebrated for environment purpose . special lane for cyclist so that they can move faster in comparison to others!! this will encourage them to take cycle to work than petrol/diesel vehicles. OR tax compensation to companies to provide atleast 1 forced WFH per week.

A specialised fasting can be promoted. Minimal vegetarian liquid food and fruits, No travelling, no TV watching, No computer usage, no fishing, no working, you can walk, meet people, go for walk together and chant mantras, no phones, no electricity of zero fossil fuel usage, all activities it its minimum. One day in a month or one day in a year.

If petrol/diesel vehicles are cheaper then Electric vehicle people will use the cheaper one. I am working hard to achieve this luxury comfort and i am paying applicable Tax on it, No one is here to supply me for this. If Shri Yogi can do then Shri Modi also can do.

Everything can be start if govt has decided like demonetization. First of all Start it from your own dept, Why cant Officers,Govt Employee give up subsidy,Why can't they UBER/Ola Cab service instead of personal Car with a driver. Why cant they admit their child in Govt school, Why cant they go to Govt Hospitals for treatment instead of Fortis and Medanta.Why cant they use public vehicle for office use,why there is So Much of VIP culture in india.

First of all I would really appreciate this appeal done by our beloved PM. Here are few suggestions from my side - 1. It shall start from Govt Sector first and move to private companies. Car Pooling and use common vehicle once a day at minimum in a week. 2. Incentives or surprise gifts to the people who travel by Metros / Buses etc. 3. Last but not the least start a plan for proper pathway which is only for walking or cycle people and people are encouraged to use cycle once a week or more.

My office is approx 30km from my home, I use my bike to go office, while travelling on bike, i face bullying from other vehicles sometimes. Mostly vehicles bully smaller vehicles. People driving bigger vehicles, doesn't give side, abuse and also it's a social mentality, that vehicles are status symbol. If somebody using cycle, mean he is poor or low status. In my opinion, separate path for bicycle should be there and awareness to use cycle can encourage people to use bicycle.

proper walking ways are not available. On every walkable space high speed vehicles are roaring. It seems safer to ride a scooter instead of going on foot. This must be changed to encourage cycling or walking. No petrol diesel vehciles days may be observed in different part of cities every week. This will enable citizens to use cycling and walking with added health benefits and less polluted air. Use of petrol desiel came in practice. It may be replaced with the habit of cycling and waling.
