The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

moreover showing advertisements on alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco and displaying a statutory warning does not serve the purpose. too much mixing of men and women at the workplace is also one of the reason for violence. we have seen several incidents where male boss has asked for inappropriate favors from their women colleague. recent incident of committing suicide by a female army officer and rape of a women air force officer and inappropriate favors asked by police officials.

law like household violence or other violence against women are strict, if a women complains about any such incident and blames a male person then without getting into the matter a male person is being arrested. such a law has now being widely misused by women as women's statement by default is taken to be 100% correct even if the intention of the women might be malefic against a male person. kindly amend the law in favor of both the male and female as no innocent person shall be punished.

crime against women has risen because, the society is not served with good content. content of cinema is full of violence, stunts, inappropriate scenes like kissing and nudity and drinking alcohol. alcohol is always promoted by the cinema industry. moreover internet content is also inappropriate; if anyone watches such content, his mind will be full of such pictures and thoughts which will be reflected in a rape/violence. also inappropriate dressing by the women is also one of the cause.

VAW has a very long history, though the incidents and intensity of such violence have varied over time and even today vary between societies. Such violence is often seen as a mechanism for the subjugation of women, whether in society in general or in an interpersonal relationship.
